sql busy

Postby mciv » Sat Mar 10, 2012 8:05 am

I've read the few posts in the forum regarding sharing database files but so far I cannot get this to work.

I have a fedora based server where I want to store the mmex db. I then want my wife to access it from windows and me from ubuntu 11. I've tried creating the db on the server, on windows and moving it and from ubuntu and moving it. I've also changed permissions in various ways but no matter what I do the result is the windows pc can access the shared db with no trouble but I cannot connect from the Ubuntu machine. I always get this message
Code: Select all
SQLITE_BUSY[5]: database is locked

I can workaround this by using a virtual windows install but that really defeats why I switched to linux so I'd really like to get this to work. Does anyone have any ideas?

i am using dbopbox for that. Working fine.
i used local folder for store financial data but not real file is in that folder but symlink only to dropbox folder.

Code: Select all
SQLITE_BUSY[5]: database is locked

means that other app used mmex db (or mmexini.db3) at that time.

Thanks for the reply, Nikolay. I don't use dropbox because I have a file server running. I use a VPN connection to access it when away from home. What other app could be using the DB?

It's an Ubuntu 11 desktop with no antivirus and only one install of mmex. The Windows xp laptop with antivirus loads the db from the shared folder just fine. Unfortunately I really need to have two users access this from different machines.

Just an update that I seemed to have solved this problem. I added the nobrl option to my fstab entry and I can now access the shared drive.

That good.
I think mmex not ready to working with shared DB. To avoid any problems do not start both mmex at the same time!
Make symbol link from shared db to home folder to have separate backup files for linux.
