Copying Money Manager Database

Postby MelRonE » Tue Dec 16, 2008 6:35 am

I was wondering if there was a way to copy a database that would include all of the accounts, budgets, payees and categories, etc. but not the transactions? Typically, I like to start with a new database each year, but do not want to go through the pain of having to reset up all the information. I find that as the number of transactions increases throughout the year, that the response time is slowing down a bit upon opening the database. This way the data is more manageable and I don't have to navigate through previous years' transactions. I did not see any way to do this with the current version of the software and there was no mention of this in the Help documentation.

Thanks,
Ron

You could copy the file, and delete the transactions in each account. Use the drop drown menu in the account view to "Delete All transactions in view"

Thanks for the response. I would have thought there would be an easier way to do this rather than having to go into each account individually. Maybe this feature could be added in a future release.

Possibly. You can also open the database in a SQLITE database browser and delete all transactions in the transactions table.
