Split Category

Postby gjwguk » Tue May 24, 2011 4:36 am

Circumstances has lead to requiring a withdrawal and deposit on a specific transaction. I thought I would be able to split the category for a payee by subtracting the deposit when applying a Withdrawal but MMEX reported an error.

What is the best way to applied this transaction.

NB. One payee, one transaction, one deposit and one withdrawal and a balance. :!:

Thanks

I have this requirement also. For example,

Company Dividend 90
Tax credit 9
Tax -9

Transaction total 90

The above construction allows for easy amendment of a recurring transaction where the Dividend varies on each transaction and requires manual amendment of the values.

Is the effect mentioned, not allowed to mix payments and deposits in the one transaction, by design?

Does the latest release solve this problem?

In this release (0.9.9.0), Split categories are used for an overal deposit or withdrawal, but the categories can then be specified as either deposits or withdrawals.
In other words, for a deposit, we can have a primary deposit of $100 with withdrawals of $10 and $20: resulting deposit = $70.
Reverse for a withdrawal.
